A dirty hospital there were times when toilets on the corridors were so filthy you just would not use them, I am not suprised they find it difficult to get to grips with c dif, mrsa, and novo virus, it seems there is always a ward shut due to infection. The doctors were very good but the nurses were often of hand and unapproachable, speaking to patients and relatives in an unacceptable manner, obviously there were others thank god that were kind. This hospital is far from a center of excellence even if they keep saying they are

I've been unfortunate enough to need two major ops (Radical nephrectomy and gall bladder removal) this year and found the Countess brilliant generally. My surgical team(s) were A1 and the post op care was very reassuring. Too few nurses meant I did have to wait for attention on the ward occasionally but I have no complaints about my care . I found the Hospital clean and most Nuses/staff used the provided disinfectant cream. Food was predictably bland and had that mass produced flavour but what do you want on the NHS? The Nurses were very patient (no pun intended) with some of the older more akward patients on my ward. Privacy was limited to closing the curtain screen around the bed but no worse than any other hospital in the world. Any treatment however small was always done with the curtains drawn Parking is charged at £2.00 per day but plenty of spaces close to the building. Should I ever have to attend the Countess again I would feel confident that I would receive first class care in a clean and caring enviroment.
